I got the exact same problem, it's not some flash thing since it even pops-up on blank pages.
I had the same issue on Getsatisfaction.com What is going on? Version 3.6.3 on Ubuntu 9.04
Me too

this is driving me nuts
Google's celebrating PacMan's 30th anniversary, they have a fancy logo. With sound. Brilliant idea that was =/
The same problem on FF with Vista Home Basic... Even if I log on other sites the sound still goes on.
Wow notice how everyone started getting this problem at the same time?
I have the same problems!!!

I have removed Firefox and re-installed (sorry for english xD) but the problem is not vanished. :|

Same problem here! it's driving me insane! Please help!
Does Anyone know how to fix it?
@ Rahid, I get the sounds even without Google. Although I have google search option in my task bar.
Has anyone found the solution to this yet? so annoying!!!
Same problem!!
It's crazy, it's attack of the pacman!
Closing and re-opening FF doesn't seem to help. Closing and re-opening FF with a different home page (blackle.com had been my home page - changed it to bing.com) still doesn't help. What is FireFox doing that keeps playing this damn sound file???
same problem too even changing default home page and search case to non google won't help even after restarting even after clearing all browser history, coockies....
stupid celebration they should have tested this before releasing it
this is so annoying lol wtf. pacman noises arrgh
so if it is really a google celebration, how do we stop it?
someone must have sneaked in some code for this...
