I am a computer dummy and this is my first computer. I have a head injury which does not help as I do things backwards, etc. Technical things are hard for me. I need to know if Mozilla can scan my computer to see if I need to defrag files on the hard drive as I do not know how if it does need done. I do not know how to copy/paste, can you help?

Copy & Paste One method which will work within Firefox, on ordinary test files in Windows XP and in fact in many programs on differing Operating systems is to as follows

  1. SELECT
highlight the required text, usually for instance by holding the left mouse button down and dragging the mouse. Alternatively for instance within these messages or on websites use keyboard shortcut Ctrl+A to select All i.e all the message, or all the page, or location bar where the mouse pointer is.
  2. COPY
Use Ctrl + C (whilst the object/text is selected as above)
  3. PASTE
Use Ctrl + V AFTER you have moved the mouse pointer to the target location
  • Keyboard shortcuts

Ctrl + A is shorthand for

    1. Press the keyboard key "Ctrl" or Control (Often bottom left on the keyboard) and keep the key held down
    2. Press the key "A" (no need to use the shift key)

DEFRAG You should be able to defrag the computer drive from the Windows XP operating system. It is not something that Firefox will do for you.

One method on XP if I recall correctly, is to find the icon for the drive, then right click to get a properties dialogue. One tab or option is tools and that will have a defrag &/or analyse option. It will also be possible to do it from the control panel options.

To John 99: Yes, what you told me helped a lot and I wrote down the website you also gave me. I will admit, I "cheated" as I opted to write it all down, then go thru the step-by-step way as that is how I learn and adapt. Thank you so much. The way I did it was a learning experience even though I have no clue what was de-fragged-lol. Thanks again and you will probably hear from me from time to time. LeoKat
