Is it always like that? or just from one source? How are you viewing emails ? (view / Message Body As) should be original html

After windows10 update, l updated Thunderbird as well, after using 24.5.0 for years an having no problems. l installed 38.1.0 and it's a night mare, can not see remote content, weather you tick the box or not (viewing as original html) & it happens to all emails, as well as it hangs when deleting emails.
