About every third time that I try to open, close, or switch tabs in Firefox, it locks up for about 20 seconds. If I move my mouse from the tab that I am trying to get to, then it acts like I dragged the tab down and it opens it up in a new window (Which also locks up the browser for an additional 20ish seconds). It happens regardless of the media that is being used, time firefox has been up, and internet connectivity. I have run several different virus scans both surface and command line scanners and am confident that it is not the work of any malware. Every time that this happens Firefox refreshes it's connection to the internet which causes all video loading to fail, and makes any loading page fail to load properly if at all. I tried the "Firefox refresh" thing, and it did nothing for me.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
