Just had FF crash as I sent my credit card info. What's the chance that there's a cracker out there capturing info from FF?

I was renewing my System Mechanic software from iolo. I entered all of my credit card info and pressed the send button, or whatever the purchase button is, then Fire fox crashed! Is this just a coincidence or is there some nefarious code out there that now has my credit card information?

Yes, that is correct.

This doesn't look at all like it was caused by malware, so probably just a coincidence.

It is very unlikely that this is anything other than a coincidence, but you can double-check if you want:

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear.
  2. Copy the most recent Report ID that starts with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If the first one does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report, and then copy and paste the ID of that.

The report has information that will allow us to know why firefox crashed.
