When I open an e-mail account, it asks for a password (every time).
If I tick the "Use Password Manager to remember the password" it completely ignores the command and does nothing.
I then have to start again and NOT tick the box and it signs on OK.
However, I have to do this every single time that Thunderbird restarts ??

Make hidden files and folders visible
In thunderbird
- Help > Troubleshooting Information
- click on 'show Folder'
a new window opens showing profile folder name.
- Close Thunderbird now - this is important
- Scroll down - locate and delete this file: key3.db
Restart Thunderbird. Try to enter password and select Password Manager to remember
Report back on results.

At the prompt to enter password, enter password and select the "Use Password Manager to remember the password" checkbox and click on OK.
If you use a product like CCleaner, then it is probably clearing session and password info. In whichcase you need to make exception for thunderbird files in CCleaner to stop it cleaning Thunderbird information.
Thank you Toad-Hall for taking the time to reply, but your solution is exactly the problem that I entered - I have repeatedly done exactly what you suggest and this is exactly what does not work !!!
Do you use CCLeaner or similar product?
Does it say the password is stored here: 'Tools' > 'Options' > 'Security' > 'Passwords' tab or 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'Security' > 'Passwords' tab
- click on 'Saved Passwords' button
- click on 'Show Passwords' button
Thank again - you really are being helpful - much appreciated.
When I click on "Saved Passwords" I get an empty dialoque box; ie., there are no passwords stored there at all - it is completely blank and "Show Passwords" is greyed out.
I also have "Remember logins for sites" ticked in Firefox.
Please advise ??

Dear Toad-Hall,
You are a superstar - it's fixed - most grateful - after about 4 months of entering every password every day (and sometimes more) it was getting a little wearisome.
Thanks again
