Why no yahoo bookmarks avaiable to install?
Always had problems with Firefox and Yahoo. Now with the latest Yahoo update, I can not find Yahoo toolbar for Firefox to install. It seems that Firefox went along with this. I have a lot of bookmarks that I can not access. It is very important. Is this a Firefox OR a Yahoo problem. Yes, it is a problem for me and thousands of others. Why can not they leave things alone. Any suggestions?? Yahoo toolbar for Firefox and where to find????

I found this announcement:
On August 1, 2016 we will simplify the Firefox Yahoo Toolbar and upgrade your browser to the New Tab by Yahoo extension experience. This extension provides a static version of Yahoo Toolbar and customizes your new tab page with Flickr photos and quick access to your top sites. Please note, you will no longer be able to modify your toolbar layout.

That's all I know about what's going on.
I found a link to the last normal Yahoo toolbar if you want to try reinstalling that version:
Later Edit: A July update is available available but I don't know if anyone has tested it: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/yahoo-toolbar-and-new-tab/versions/
I don't know whether it will help, but you can turn off updating for the toolbar on the Add-ons page. Either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Find Yahoo toolbar on the right side and click the tiny More link under the title, then on that page, find the row for Automatic Updates and set it to Off.
If you find that you ALSO have that other Yahoo extension, you might need to disable it to avoid a conflict.
Please post back with your experiences, other Yahoo users will be checking in shortly, I suspect.

jscher2000 that did it. I also followed your suggestion to disable automatic updates. Hope it stays. I will have to keep your answer in a safe place to adjust our other computers. Thanks..

James, my inital problem was that I couldn't find the Yahoo toolbar to download. I did do as you suggested and there was not a red ribbon to click on. There was a different looking bookmark and when I opened it up I got this,, "Thank you for visiting bookmarks.yahoo.com. This site is no longer available. Your existing Yahoo Bookmarks are safe with us and will be accessible exclusively through Yahoo Toolbar. I got back Yahoo toolbar with the bookmarks on it with jscher2000 help. Thanks for the thought.
Why not take your
Yahoo bookmarks export them from Yahoo
and import them in to Firefox

Did you also follow the link from James to Yahoo's explanation about their bookmarks (https://downloads.yahoo.com/faqfirefoxtoolbar } :Where can I see my bookmarks on Yahoo?
Sign in to My Yahoo. Click on the "Add Content" button and add the "Bookmarks" module to your page to see your links.
How do I export my bookmarks to another browser?
You can export your bookmarks here. { USA link - https://us.data.toolbar.yahoo.com/v1/bm/tools?.intl=us)
How do I uninstall Firefox Yahoo Toolbar?
1. On the Firefox browser, click Tools | select Add-ons.
2. Click Remove, next to listing of Yahoo Toolbar.
3. Restart Firefox.I presume using the export bookmarks link will allow you to import the links in to Firefox itself See also

It seems that I have the same problem again. I was having another problem of a very slow computer for several months. Tried several of help suggestions with no results. I was getting desperate, then did a firefox refresh. Oops. That helped my sluggishness but now it deleted my Yahoo tool bar. Reinstalled Yahoo toolbar and set the updates to 'off' but no bookmarks. Went back and did the items that helped me last time but could not find jscher way to install old toolbar with bookmarks. Said not found. Tried to put bookmarks into Firefox menu bar as suggested but did not come across. I must have hundreds of Yahoo bookmarks and would like them back. I think that I could have dealt with being slow but not no bookmarks. Still do not understand why companies insist that 'this is for your own good'. They do not have customer service. Did Verizon purchase them? Help............ Thanks

Hi jbees, the Refresh puts your old Firefox profile folder into a folder named Old Firefox Data on your desktop. If you can find that folder, you can copy the Yahoo! extension from there to your current profile. I'm going offline now, but can describe the steps for that in a later reply.
In short, you're going to copy the {635abd67-4fe9-1b23-4f01-e679fa7484c1} folder from the extensions folder in your old profile to the extensions folder in your current profile, replacing the broken version (or installing it if you do not have it at all). Hopefully after you exit Firefox and start it up again, Firefox will spot it and ask you to approve the addition.
If you export the bookmarks to Firefox you should be able to keep them on Firefox regardless of whether or not this or other Yahoo Toolbars work.
john99. jscher stated he would explain how to do the copy and paste from old firefox files. Just in case I get confused, how would I transfer yahoos bookmarks to firefox when I can not get into my bookmarks? I think I tried that some months back but they do not show up in firefox bookmarks. I think I need to get them to a place so they will not totally disappear. Along with no Yahoo bookmarks, I just noticed something different when I click on the + next to the top tabs. Before I could do that while in firefox it would show several boxes with some of my previous tabs and I could click on one and it would open in a new tab. Now when I click on the + sign, the screen will show something totally different. (New tab by Yahoo). If I hover over some of the signs at the bottom, It will show one of my previous tabs. What have I done wrong? Need lots of help.
The newest Yahoo extension takes over the new tab page, so that is to be expected.
First, remove that new Yahoo extension.
Next, copy the old extension's folder to your current Firefox profile as follows:
Open Your Old Firefox Data Folder in Windows Explorer
After opening this window, switch over to Firefox (don't close the window, but you can minimize it if that's easiest).
Open Your Current Profile folder in Windows Explorer
Open the Troubleshooting Information page using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
- Help menu > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table, click the "Show Folder" button. Firefox will launch your brand new profile folder in Windows Explorer.
Leaving that folder open, switch back to Firefox, and Exit using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
- (menu bar) File > Exit
Double-click into the extensions folder. Leave this window open.
Copy The Old Yahoo Extension from Your Old Firefox Data Folder
Switch over to your Old Firefox Data folder. Drill down into your old profile folder, and into its extensions folder.
Right click the {635abd67-4fe9-1b23-4f01-e679fa7484c1} folder and choose Copy.
Paste Into Your New Profile Folder
Switch to the new profile folder in other window and Paste (either right-click a blank area of the list > Paste or Ctrl+v).
Start Firefox
Firefox should detect the addition and prompt you to enable the old Yahoo extension. Does that work? Then you can slide over to the Add-ons page and turn off automatic updating for the Yahoo extension.
Thanks for the reply jscher. But things on my end didn't work out as you directed. 3/4 of my bookmarks I could get rid of but it's the thought of a large company doing that. My Firefox 'refresh' didn't fix my whole problem. Have done several scans for virus types on both desktop and laptop. No help. Something is amiss in there. Still have a good working 2nd desktop. Note to self--do not touch it! So says the wife. I would still like to get my bookmarks into Firefox. Any ideas besides starting all over with Firefox bookmarks? Did they really send a man to the moon with antique computers??
I'm not sure what you mean about losing bookmarks. You lost Firefox bookmkarks, or you lost Yahoo bookmarks?
I only have a few sample bookmarks in my Yahoo account so I don't know what happens if you have a lot of them...
Have you tried importing your Yahoo bookmarks into Internet Explorer to see whether you get a full import there?
It is the Yahoo bookmarks. When Yahoo changed their Yahoo toolbar, they did away with the bookmarks emblem. They page says they are safe with them but I do not know how to view them. It seems that I have tried to copy them into Firefox but at the time they did not show up. Something I did wrong. I had a lot of folders with sub folders. Can you see the bookmarks in your Yahoo account? It was explained to me some time ago but how do I transfer them into firefox when I can not view them? I am at a loss.

You can add them to your My Yahoo page, so that is where I've seen the ones I created for testing.

This is Yahoo's page to create an export file for your Yahoo! bookmarks:
https://us.data.toolbar.yahoo.com/v1/bm/tools
This is the knowledge base article on importing that file:
Import Bookmarks from an HTML file
In my case (Firefox 50 test), my Yahoo! bookmarks were added to the end of the Bookmarks Menu in a folder named "Uncategorized" which was the name it had on My Yahoo, which I hadn't really noticed before. (Sample screen shot attached.)
If you open your export file, does it seem to have all your bookmarks?
Thanks for your reply. I also have Firefox 50. I can not see the Yahoo bookmarks at all. You and I have a very different Yahoo. Have you updated your Yahoo to the newest? Reset Firefox? I can not change or add to my Yahoo toolbar. Can you?? Are my previous Yahoo bookmarks stored in the HTML type file? I do not know. When I go to the export bookmarks and try to get my Yahoo bookmarks to transfer to Firefox, I get 1...internet favorites 2...Firefox bookmarks 3...XML What do I choose?? It seems that Firefox thinks everyone is computer savey and knows what to do. Are my Yahoo bookmarks stored as a HTML? It is on the Firefox website with Yahoo bookmarks. What do I chose? Why do I and thousands more more have to go through this? Is this just Yahoo or is Firefox in the mix? Does not seem to be a decision. Sorry for the questions and rant. I need lots of help like thousands of others . Please. Do not drop- us. Thanks.
Hi jbees, let me start by saying I don't use the Yahoo toolbar and hardly use Yahoo, I've only been fighting with their toolbar changes as part of being a support volunteer. So what you see on my My Yahoo page is however I set it up for testing a while back and yours may well look different. I really am not interested in investing more time in this problem, so hopefully this post will answer your questions and end your journey.
Yahoo bookmarks are only in your Yahoo account, and are completely separate from Firefox. Yahoo's decision to dumb down its toolbar is not Mozilla's decision and out of Mozilla's control.
When you export from Yahoo, you want the Firefox bookmarks format. That's the one you can import into Firefox.
