This problem is new to my use of firefox which I've used for many years. I've never had this problem before. I have version 50.0.1 of firefox. Normally when I want to log out of firefox I left-click on my account photo which can be seen in the screenshot that I've provided and select the logout link. This link no longer exits as can been seen in the screenshot. I am uncertain whether the screenshot is being uploaded as there is a thumper in the Uploaded images box below this dialogue. My screenshot is a 300x165 px .jpg.

I do not like the idea of being continually logged in to my gmail account, or any of my online accounts, for security reasons so please lend me a hand with this issue.

Okay, this problem has been solved. I had been fighting a number of strange goings-on with my computer for days and after several bizarre episodes with nexus.com I decided to investigate.

My inability to logout of gmail; the logout link missing from my account picture, numerous popups and ransomeware which began popping up with perfectly righteous sights were all being caused by a reptile(s) (scammers) which changed the DNS my computer looked to for Internet access.

AVG Internet Security 2016, Microsoft Security Scanner, Windows Defender and Spy Bot did not pick up on this problem. I tried SpyHunter 4 and it immediately tripped on the DNS settings for my wired LAN. I have posted the screenshot which I could not do earlier cause of this nastyware. I know how to take and post screenshots by the way but in this case my ability to do so was being hampered by the redirections acting on my firefox browser.

I am posting this as a heads-up for others who might want to keep tabs on the DNS their machines are using. I have two networking degrees and though I should have checked out the LAN properties for my wired connection it did not occur to me that any creep would get that far into my machine.

Thank you folks who participated in this soiree :-)
