I have Thunderbird 45.7. A Chat folder has appeared. I have never Chatted. When I try to delete it, I get notice that Rename has failed. ?

I am assuming your have an IMAP mail account. Right click the account, select subscribe and unsubscribe from the folder.

Yahoo for instance had a chat folder for more than a decade that held offline chat records. It had no place in email. But you could not tell them that.
