The language on my firefox is set to English, but certain parts of the webpages appear in a different language such as titles and areas where I type such as what I am doing, so I often do not know what I am doing. How can this be fixed?

This issue can be caused by the Helvetica or Geneva bitmap font or another (bitmap) font that can't be displayed by Firefox in that font size. Firefox can't display that font in the specified size and displays gibberish instead. You can test that by zooming out (View > Zoom > Zoom Out, Ctrl -) to make the text smaller.
Uninstall (remove) all variants of that not working font to make Firefox use another font or find a True type version of that font that works better. --- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_font (Bitmap_font)
I can't find the Helvetica or Geneva that is "installed on my computer" it is not showing up in my installed fonts on my control panel nor is it showing up in any of my programs such as photoshop or MS Word.
Can you attach a screenshot?
Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (200 KB) and do not click Preview after you have attached the image.

Yes, here it is. I looked at both the end and top of my list of fonts and couldn't find anything like helvetica or geneva
Oops, the above post was from me, I forgot to sign in.
That looks definitely like the issue that I mentioned above. You may have another font that identifies itself as Helvetica. Did you check [tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=1&comments_parentId=566006]
thank you for your help, you helped me solve this issue. The "Helvetica" was in Chinese even though I never torrented any fonts. I appreciate your time, thank you again.
You're welcome
Thanks for reporting the outcome.
