Cannot read text on Firefox 4. It is all squares. What can I do to fix?

Downloaded Firefox 4 to my laptop running Windows 7. When the downlaod was complete, the Firefox browser launched and it was all these squares. What can I do to fix? I am not really that computer literate and this is bugging me because I prefer Mozilla over IE,

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

  • "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
  • "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Did you check the encoding?

  • Firefox > Web Developer (or View) > Character Encoding

Make sure that UTF-16 isn't selected. Try Western (ISO-8859-1) or UTF-8 in that case.

Thanks very much. Although I cannot read ANYTHING on this browser, The menu bar is all squares. I do not know even if I am explaing it right. Just squares. Thanks SO MUCH for your help!
