Firefox will not remember anything. Every time I open Firefox, it asks me to import from Safari or Chrome. Why won't it remember?

hello matkve, maybe the following article contains a solution: How to fix preferences that won't save
I can't find a prefs.js file at all. I have searched the whole computer.
These are the kinds of folders I get when I press "show in finder". (see attached image)
This is likely a problem with the profiles.ini file that is either not created or is corrupted.
Try to remove the entire Firefox folder with all profile folders that show in the screenshot and see if that fixes the problem.
Firefox should create a new Firefox program folder and a profiles.ini file that registers this profile.
If that isn't the case then check the settings in your security software.
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
See:
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
