How to transfer (saved) TB profiles to new HDD

My laptop HD crashed. I have installed a new HD with all new software (did not use backup). Fortunately I saved my two TB profiles. I copied and pasted my "Profiles" folder into my Thunderbird application data but TB does recognize my old profiles. I need access to my four years of current and archived email. I followed intruction given on the support page but it did not work. Help.
