I have added a new mail account to Thunderbird (BT) and set it up with IMAP.

I normally have all mails from all my accounts in a local folder, and I have changed this in the "copies and folders" subdirectory also for this new account.

However, I still have the separate "Btinternet" mailbox on the left hand side, with a little "padlock" symbol attached to the "envelope" symbol. I have tried everything but can't remove it.

Can anyone help please?

Why do you want to remove the padlock? It indicates that it uses a secure login that must be required by your provider.

IMAP accounts cannot be funneled into a Global Inbox under Local Folders like POP accounts can.

Thanks. I don't want to remove the padlock, just the mail folder as I don't use it! I am getting all the emails into me Local mailfolder and want to get rid of it on the screen...

IMAP email is server based. You only remotely view the folders on the providers server. I do not think you can get rid of it and still have your email work. You can try Unsubscribing to the folder but my guess is you will not receive any emails after that. You Subscribe and unsubscribe under the File menu.

Thank you again!

Unfortunately that doesn't work - in fact, I'm not even subscribed (I have the option "subscribe" when I right click on the folder).

In fact, I would probably be happy to just move it further down beneath my Local folder... but even that doesn't seem possible!

Not sure if the extension Manually Sort Folders still works with current Thunderbird, but it allows changing the order of accounts, and folders within the accounts.

You always see the Subscribe choice. That is the menu header. You have to actually click the subscribe menu to see a choice to unsubscribe. If you are not subscribed to a folder on an IMAP server you do not see it.

Thank you again! I couldn't find "manually sort folders", do you know where it should be?

Regarding the Subscribe menu, if it this one you mean then nothing seems to be subscribed (I clicked on Subscribe) after right clicking on the folder. Sorry if I'm being thick!!

Thank you very much, that at least moves the annoying extra account to the bottom of my list... Still would like to remove it but hey!

Thanks!
