thunderbird always strips off the appopintment details for Outlook when I am sen them, how can I change this, please?

I received a meeting invite from a client (in Thunderbird) and there was no data attachment. The other day I received a similar invite from another client and happened to be looking at the mail, not in Thunderbird, but saw it on-line in web mail on the server and saw there was an attachment which I think was an .ico?? When I then downloaded the mail to Thunderbird, there was now no data and no attachment of any kind, so I cannot then add the meeting to Outlook.

Any help will be much appreciated
