I have a IMAP account and with outlook I can see every map and sub map, but with Thunderbird only a few. For example when I send a mail with outlook I can see it on every PC where I use Outlook, but they are not visible when I use Thunderbird.

more options

right click the account in the folder pane and select subscribe.

If you truly want to clutter our view, goto server settings in the account settings and select the advanced button. deselect the option to only show subscribed folders.
