https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1146841?fpa=1 was my post about Firefox BIG fundamental problem incapable of doing what IE manages every time, and that is right click save image on images that lead back to photobucket. In the reply to this thread it was said to right click view image, takes me to photobucket, then use cogwheel on image to save image. There is no cogwheel when the image loads after a wait of 1 minute.

I spent 2 hrs 'save image as' on a modelling thread to have references to refer to, only to find they are all icons. I have to redo them all, so I do this, I right click it 'save image as', to replace the icon, go view result, STILL AN ICON.

I launch IE and go to the photobucket address, again it takes a while, but then right click save picture as, gets me the actual picture. I also do that from the original modelling thread and success.

FIREFOX..WHY ARE YOU INCAPABLE OF DOING THIS WHEN IE CAN DO IT AT BOTH SITES ?

THIS IS SO VITAL, I USE IT THOUSANDS OF TIMES.

IF IE DOES IT, WHY DOES FIREFOX FAIL ?

It is highly impractical to wait 1 minute for each image to load, then have it fail me, and there is no cogwheel visible to download image. what took me 2 hrs will take me 10 on that basis.

I CANNOT ANYWAY AT ALL SAVE THOSE IMAGES WITH FIREFOX.

WHY HASNT THIS FAILING OF FIREFOX BEEN FIXED BY NOW ?????

HOW DO I GET THROUGH TO MOZILLA AND HAVE THIS FIXED, AS THIS FUNDAMENTAL ACT DOESNT WORK.

Posting here about it has achieved nothing. I love firefox but it has big issues, either the image captcha isnt visible and in IE it is, or ebay images wont enlarge, or google images wont go big, or images wont save . ye gods !!!

I hate IE with all the clutter, but a browser must be able to save images, FIREFOX FAILS ON THIS.

I just cant go through life having to save image then save it again and see if its been saved, then have a few work, then do the rest of the 100 or so, then find they fail and have to use IE all over again.

I have nothing new since my reply in your other thread two years ago: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1146841#answer-935719

And last month: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1238326#answer-1167275

Here in support we work with the Firefox we have today and can suggest relevant features, settings changes, and workarounds. If those are unsatisfactory, you can submit comments and suggestions through one or more of the following links:

Hi, the fact that your two suggestions (as per links) dont work, Thanks for posting them.

Do they work for you on this page for example, do they work for others on this page ?

please everyone try for pics and report back. Try this page :-

Can I have feedback from others, establish if its just me ?

I know from asking friends that IE and Chrome manage it, I may reluctantly have to stop using Firefox as despite posting on this the basic function of Firefox after many months have passed has not been fixed by Mozilla for these saves.

I dont want to have to join twitter etc to try and get this fixed. this forum should be enough. If Firefox get to see problems posted here.

So I and hopefully Firefox await fellow firefox users tests on the page above.

I do see photobucket images on the page you posted if I scroll further down.

Aren't you seeing these as well?

No, obviously it's not you, it's how Photobucket works when images are requested in a non-embedded context, which occurs because Firefox doesn't Save Image As from cache.

The workaround of modifying the Accept headers is still viable, although again, I don't know the side effects.

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config?filter=accept.d in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

You may want to bookmark this page for future access.

(2) Double-click the network.http.accept.default preference to display a dialog where you can enter the desired value, change it to

*/*

then click OK to save the change.

To undo that for general browsing, you can right-click > Reset the preference.

Firefox sends the accept header (*/*) as set via image.http.accept

  • image.http.accept = */*

Setting network.http.accept.default to */* shows the JPG image for me in a new tab where the default accept header gives the photbucket page, so the default image accept header work with Photobucket.
