Hi Gosh, but I hate Firefox Sync!! I didn't realise that I was permanently signed in to my account across both devices once I had, just for a laugh, signed in 1 week ago. As a result, my bookmarks had automatically synced across two users on the same device, which I didn't want to happen. As I didn't want this, I deleted - when logged on as user 2 - the bookmarks that had been synced across from user 1. Then when I logged back in as user 1, those bookmarks had been deleted there as well becasue of that damn Sync function. Is there ANY way I can get those deleted bookmarks back as user 1? I have permanently signed out of Sync now and hope I never see the damn thing again.

With sync, selected data is shared with all members of the sync. Any changes on one member is shared with all others.

Restore Bookmark Backups

Firefox automatically makes backups of the bookmarks. These are stored in the bookmarkbackups folder.

Open the Bookmarks Manager; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.

Once the window is open, at the top of the page, press the button labeled Import and Backup. Select Restore. From the list, pick the file you want and click it.

The backups are stored in a jsonlz4 file named something like this; bookmarks-2016-06-29_1424_enD1GTH ya0JmicnYWg4V4g==.jsonlz4

In this example; 2016-06-29 = date created, 1424 = number of entries.

Thanks Fred, much appreciated, worked a treat and all bookmarks now back in place. As i said previously, I have now turned off Sync as I want my bookmarks to remain User-specific and not all shared with everyone else.
