Thunderbird updating from 45.8.0 to 60.9.1 doesn't complete 'Applying Update'.
Thunderbird updating from 45.8.0 to 60.9.1 doesn't complete 'Applying Update'. The circle keeps going around. Windows 10 home edition. Tried with add-ons disabled but received the same issue. Switched from Eudora. 48.8.0 is working fine. Don't know how to install an intermediate version, if there are any.

Download v60.9.1 installer from here https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/60.9.1/win32/ then uninstall the current version via Control Panel (or Settings app). Delete the Mozilla Thunderbird folder from C:\Program Files (x86) and C:\Program Files (if it exists) then run the downloaded installer.

Yes. Just there are some changes that are needed in that earlier update. Then you will need to pass through 68 before going to 78
Worked like a champ! Thank you for the help!
Need help. Shut down computer yesterday after the upgrade to 68 and opened it up today and my email is back to factory default with no account setup and no e-mails. How do I retrieve this information?
Go to Help > Troubleshooting Information > about:profiles. How many profiles are shown?
3 Profile: default Profile: default-release Profile: default-release-1 This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.
I launched the 1st profile listed and that profile appears to be correct. So I'm guessing I need to select to make this profile the default. Correct?
That's correct. The "default" one is the old profile and should be made the default.
Thank you so very much for the help!
You can remove the "default-release*" ones together with their files to keep things simple and tidy. No need to keep unused profiles and their files.
Thank you for the recommendation. They had been deleted. It's working great now!
