Thunderbird 91.1.1 crashes
I recently upgraded from Thunderbird 78 to 91.1.1 (I waited until the second release before I upgraded).
Upgrade went flawless. I launched Thunderbird, everything was great. After doing what I needed to do, I X's out of Thunderbird and walked away from my PC (Windows 10 21H1). A little while later, I get the Crash Reporter on my screen. I report the crash. All good. Same thing continues to happen every time I launch and exit Thunderbird.
A few Crashes ago, I noticed that the Crash Reporter is failing to send the reports. Just says 'There was a problem sending your report.'.
I go into %APPDATA%\Thunderbird\Crash Reports\ and I have 13 unreported reports (one DMP file and one EXTRA for each, so a total of 26 files).
Can anyone tell me how can I get these reports submitted so I can get this crash fixed?
Or, what I need to post so I can try to get the crash fixed?
Thx!

If you had disabled the add-ons in normal mode, but they reappeared on restart, there's something wrong with one or all of them. Try removing them and see is they stay that way. It's easy enough to re-install any non-faulty or compatible ones.

In the Help/More Troubleshooting section, look under Crash reports and post the last few IDs, which begin with bp-...
In the meantime, run Windows in safe mode and see if TB still crashes.
Thanks sfhowes!
That actually helped. Since I was unable to submit any crash reports, when I went there, I was able to submit them now!
So, here are a few: bp-98f4799e-b950-446b-92b8-5509d0210927 bp-93e27005-a379-4534-9b87-5604d0210927 bp-46e1b1df-f6e4-4c59-812e-853090210927
At this point, I have not tried to boot into SafeMode to check if that makes any difference, but will try in the next day or so.
Thanks!!! J
The crash report seems to point to your add-ons, DKIM Verifier, Show InOut or Add-on Compatibility Check as the source. Try running TB in safe/troubleshoot mode, to disable add-ons and other factors, as a first test. Hold Shift when launching TB.

Does it still have an issue if you hold shift while starting Thunderbird and continue in safe mode/ troubleshooting mode when prompted? I notice you have a number of addons and one may hot have made the transition well so it is best to check in troubleshooting mode.
BTW if you go to Help Troubleshooting and scroll down the information to crashes in the last 3 days and open the show all crashes you get an option to submit unsubmitted reports.
The crash is actually a timeout condition where the application is deliberately crashed because shutdown has stopped. It is a somewhat generic thing so specific issues are not usually identified from the reports. The previous suggestion is based on the operating system having third party software that is interrupting or preventing the shutdown of the program. Post update this is almost always an anti virus program, but not always. If Your anti virus has spam/scam settings it is more likely to be an issue.
sfhowes and Matt, unfortunately, even when starting with all add-ons disabled, the issue is still there. I also started Windows in SafeMode with Networking and the issue still exists.
To add to it, I disabled all add-ons (and deleted a few old disabled ones, not that I have very many add-ons anyway) and the issue is still there.
I have notices that after I exit, if I go into the Task Manager, there are three instances of thunderbird.exe running at 0%. I am not sure I should be seeing three instances, but I am. I also saw something in one of the DMP files (bug reports) that pointed me to VB (can't remember what I saw or in which DMP file, but it was one of them). There was also something that was pointing at MozGlue.dll. Not sure if either of these things help or if I am just maybe adding confusion to it, but I thought I would mention it.
Thanks again for all your assistance! J
Was the update form 78 to 91 done in-place from Help/About TB or by downloading the full 91 installer? If not the latter, it might be worth running the full installer after uninstalling the existing app. Your data in the separate profile folder is not affected.
sfhowes,
I actually used the full installer. Went to the website, downloaded it and ran it and it gave the Upgrade option.
Let me reproduce the issue with all the add-ons disabled and see if that gives us any better info in the crash report.
I will upload a new one and update this sometime today.
Thanks for your help!

Now, an odd thing, when I brought Thunderbird back up, the three add-ons were enabled again. Not sure what is up with that, but they were.

Strangely enough, not sure which of the three add-ons broke it, but when I deleted them, the problem is gone (I do have a different issue now, but it is unrelated so, not worried about it yet).
