Whenever a download is finished, my windows toolbar unhides itself. Only after clicking on the download window does it autohide itself again.

I have my windows (7.0) toolbar on auto-hide so that it doesn't clutter up my screen. But whenever I download a file with Firefox, the download window triggers the toolbar to pop up. Only after clicking on the download window does the toolbar rehide itself. Is there a way to get the download complete event to not trigger a windows event (or whatever it is that causes the toolbar to pop up)?

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

Hello Joe,

This is frankly not a Mozilla Firefox problem :-)

Solution

But yes, you can disable this in the configuration. Please follow my instructions carefully.

1. In your adressbar type "about:config". 2. In the filter box, type in "showAlertOnComplete". 3. Right click the "browser.download.manager.showAlertOnComplete" and click Toogle so the value says "False".

Alternative solutions

1. You can disable the download manager to pop-up by going to Options->General and under Download Manager. You may quickly reopen it by doing Ctrl + J.

2. You can download another download manager. I recommend Download statusbar by Devon Jensen

The showAlertOnComplete didn't work. I downloaded and installed the download manager program and that seems to have done the trick. Thanks
