Update to the latest version of Firefox by going to www.getfirefox.com to ensure security updates and performance.

For your problem you can try a test profile by going to Managing Profiles

I'd already tried downloading newer version of Firefox (twice). ALSO I'm using Mac OX 10.5.8

windows xp upgrading from prev version of FF Bookmarks gone, can't add new ones. Tried all the suggested solutions. snafu!
