I have had Ffox 3.6.8 installed for some time now but this problem just started today. When I opened firefox I found that google toolbar wasn't displaying properly and my custom buttons had dissapeared. I tried re-installing google toolbar then added my custom buttons, but when I reopen firefox i find that the toolbar has reverted to its default setting. This isn't happening in IE8.No matter what I try I cannot get firefox to save the google toolbar settings. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I tried that. Exited, restarted in safe mode and made the suggested changes but it didn't work.

I would just add briefly that I tried deleting the localstore.rdf file and it didn't fix the problem so it appears that this problem doesn't have anything to do with that file.

SOLVED - at least on my computer

Maybe it will help you too

In my case it had to do with the new Google-setting: Instant display.

This setting 'allows' Google to, interactively redisplay the 'found links' AS YOU TYPE. When I switched it off - all normal Google Configuration settings were stored again as they should.

BTW, nice of Google as to not check whether a new gadget works with ALL of the major Browsers, as I count OUR Firefox as one of them.

My Google Toolbar failed to save changes within the Firefox browser. My pc uses Vista with 4 users. Oddly 2 users could save changes to their Google Toolbar while the other 2 users could not. To resolve this issue I used Revo uninstaller to remove ALL traces of Firefox with all users including all personalised settings. I re-installed Firefox 2.6.10 and Google Toolbar for all users and so far all changes are being retained but who knows for how long?
