Java Applets on MAC suddenly stopped working with Firefox 3.6.10, not because any addon
I have a new MacBook Pro, OS X 10.6.4, with firefox 3.6.10. At the beginning I had no problem with Applets, and after about a week I couldn't open any applet on any site. I deleted Applets-Cache (from Java-preferences), I have no ad-blocker, and even if I disable all applets besides for the java applets it still fails. I started FireFox in Safe-Mode and it still failed. Safari and Chrome has no problems with applets, only Firefox. When I open Java-Preferences and enable console and debug - I see that the console doesn't open when firefox suppose to open it (but again - it does open with Chrome and Safari). I'm using McAfee antivirus and firewall, but even if i disable it, the problem remains. The strange thing is that when I uninstalled firefox, including some related folders, and then reinstalled it - firefox start working well with applets. BUT, now, after few days it stopped working again... What can make my firefox fail again in opening applets? I'm a developer, and I got a web-page that has applets, and Mac costumers with Firefox complains about it, so I guess it's not only my Mac+Firefox. Any solution ? Any idea? Thanks,
Tidhar

Yeah I don't know what the problem is. I am always using the applets to upload pictures for orders and I was not able to anymore with firefox. Until I find a fix for it I use safari when I need to upload anything.
I was having the same problem after upgrading to FF 4. Today I downloaded and installed the latest (?) Java update from the Apple Support site: JavaForMacOSX10.5Update9.dmg, and now everything works perfectly.
