I have been using version 3.6.6 of Firefox for Mac.

Recently, I have been prompted to update to v. 3.6.16.

I am wondering why I am not being prompted to download v. 4 instead.

As far as I know, FF 4 for Mac is out of beta. Are there problems with it, or should I download it instead of the 3.6.16 version I'm being prompted to download?

Thanks.

Why is it a problem getting such a simple question answered?

I'll try again:

I'm using Firefox 3.6.6 for Mac. I keep getting prompted to download v. 3.6.17 (in original post it was 3.6.16).

Meanwhile, I keep seeing articles, etc. about Firefox 4 for Mac.

Why is Firefox prompting me to download v. 3.6.17 instead of v. 4.x?

Thanks.

Interesting. No replies here re: whether I should upgrade to v. 3.6.17 or v. 4.

If I click on a support link elsewhere at mozilla.com -- i.e., to send 'feedback' -- I'm informed that I have to be using the latest version of Firefox before I can do that.

Meanwhile, while using my computer I get prompted to upgrade to version 3.6.17 (for Mac), whereas if I navigate to the 'latest download' link at this website, it's for v. 4 (Mac).

It's no wonder to me that I'm confused.

And there is never any advice (none that I've seen, anyway) as to which users really need any particular upgrade. We're always supposed to assume we should download every new version, regardless of whether or not we really need to.

O what fun it is to be a Firefox user.
