Since Firefox launched version 4.0, hundreds of addons died. However, you can disable "check compatibility" function in Firefox about:config to use old addons. here's an example to install old addon on Firefox 4.0, this way has been tested on Firefox 5.0 and works well.

[inompatible add-ons in Firefox 4 or latter] run incompatible add-ons in Firefox 4 or latter.
