I keep getting popups about updating my browser to firefox 5 then 6 and now 7... Is this a scam?
I am getting popup boxes (no firefox or mozilla logo) saying Firefox beta 5 (at first) then beta version 6, and now beta version 7 are available and asking me to download and install them.
I suspect a pfishing or worse, but some of the functions in my firefox version aren't working quite right now..
Suggestions please and how can I give you further info?

Sounds that you are on the beta update channel.
You can check that by looking at the pref app.update.channel on the about:config page.
If the value of that pref is beta then it is better to download and install the latest Firefox 6.0.x release.

Thanks!!! I never thought about the beta update as being a potential reason.
How do I turn off the Firefox update screen? it took me a long time to get my computer back in shape after Version 6 messed it up. I'm keeping 5.01.
