bookmarks remain, but bookmark names have disappeared and the "names" switch under the "view" button is greyed out and will not function. How do I re-activate the "names" button and bring back the bookmark names to the bookmark menu?

I have not intentionally made any changes to my settings. This seems to have occurred spontaneously.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
