why do some pages print and some not until I restart the PC?

Desk top PC is HP A 550 Y, printer isHP D1660, problem with both Firefox & Thunderbird. Pages usually print but, randomly, pages do not print, but can be printed by doing a Restart. During the restart I press the printer on/off button, which is flashing, and it stops flashing

This kind of intermittent problem can be hard to track down. When this happens, rather than restart your PC, have you tried unplugging and re-plugging your printer? (That usually helps with one OfficeJet I've seen.)

Edit: I mean the AC power plug, not the USB cable.

Try to see the print preview and then print. If still persist then can print in pdf, see the results, Go for the file > page setup. Also check the printer properties.
