Firefox 13.0 & 14.0 for Mac OS X (10.7.4) is slow & unresponsive. I've stopped using it.

I've reset Firefox. No improvement. Updates must work seamlessly or the program is of no use to me. I've used Firefox from at least version 3.6. Now it functions like downgrading from broadband to dialup. It's not my connection or my computer. Safari is working as well as ever, likewise Chrome. No need to keep using Firefox.

What happens if you update by downloading the installer and installing manually? Does that work well? I prefer to do it that way, and it works for me.
