When i go to websites, including bookmarks or repeats - sometimes they open, sometimes not. Often it takes a long time and then goes to Earthlink / Yahoo search page, over and over. Very annoying. I did not have this problem prior to the upgrade. I saw (using Safari) that FF 16 has been shut down, but I can't seem to download the older version. It always defaults to 16 and I really don't want it.

I have tried all the troubleshooting ideas on Mozilla, including restarting Firefox, clearing cache & cookies and history, changing firewall prefs, etc. Did not fix it (yet I still had the pain of reconfiguring prefs)

Try to disable IPv6.

You can try to reset (power off/on) the router.

Hi, and thanks for this suggestion. I read the info. Before I try this, I am not on wi-fi but have DSL. Does that change your suggestion? I have FF prefs for proxies set to "use system proxy settings." Since when I try this it says "be careful, this might void your warranty," can you tell me more what I am doing before I do it? Is it un-doable? ( I am not a techie, BTW, so I am treading carefully.)

Hi yadayada

....This might void your warranty!, click the button labeled "I'll be careful, I promise!", to continue (in fact, there is no warranty whatsoever, it's more a joke to ensure that users are aware of what they are about to do)....

see : About:config

Go, try cor-el suggestions, reset the router first(which is easiest) and then if the problem does not solved try to disable IPv6 (as cor-el said).

thank you

Well, to add to the info, I was just on Safari and it also routed me back to Earthlink search page! But then it found the page when I tried again --maybe this isn't Firefox? Again, I am on DSL, not a router. If you all still think it's a iPv6 issue, I'll do that.

Videos also halting and hanging. Everything is very sporadic and unpredictable.

Hi cor-el, Just wanted to get back with you about this and say thank you. Not knowing how to reset the router, I called Earthlink and we have done that (and I learned in the process). I also toggled the iPv6 thingy. For the moment, there does seem to be improvement. Much appreciation.
