Just updated to Firefox 23... now I cannot see.......
Hi .... I just updated to Firefox 23 on my black macbook running 10.6.8 Snow leopard...... and now when I open the Firefox preferences window I cannot see the very bottom part of the window....and there is no green dot in upper left corner to enlarge the window to possibly see the bottom portion with last setting options...only the red dot to close window or yellow to hide in dock is present...where the green dot to expand window is it's just a blank un-colored dot??.....the window shows only about 1/8 or 1/4 or less of for instance under privacy tab the "location" settings at bottom of window....same thing with other setting tabs ...the window does show the complete purple question mark in left lower corner, but not the complete last preference options at the very bottom... why is this I cannot expand the window to see everything???? !
I hope someone can help please!!!!......thanks, Steve

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
- You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.
Try to remove the Firefox plist file (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

Go to "~/Library/Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist)
Hi, thanks to both of you for reply and attempted help, I tried both suggestions as good as I could a few times but no luck fixing issue.... ,also I was told from another person and I did not know that the green expand button for pref window in v23 FF was not supposed to be there and to work as usual to expand the window....is this true??? ...... maybe yes because I tried moving the window around screen and does not move up and around so that would not fix prob either.....I've tried starting in safe mode and removed plist and trashed it as you said and did what what both you said to try above a few times and no luck, still the same.......
Maybe I should trash Firefox 23 and all the other older FF apps still on my HD then do a clean install?.... (but leave the apps in trash until I get this resolved??) I noticed when I first tried to install v23 FF last night (I updated from 3.6.? or something...I have not used FF in a long time as you can see!) it downloaded FF v22 first.... then it auto updated to v23???? weird it did that...is it normal?? ....then I dumped the v22 into my trash but did not empty it yet.....I'm still a Mac dummy still after 10+ yrs using them unfortunately....so complex answers kind of go over my head and also reading complex web links do too.... so all suggestions should be written for a Mac dummy like me....hopefully some more simple step by step instructions would be appreciated if possible....
I have quite a few brain farts at my semi-advanced age....to much screwing around during the 60's-early 70's if you know what I mean :-D had a good time living in So. Cal growing up.... but my two or three brain cells that are left are a bit of grey matter now!!! try to forgive my slow and simple mind.....
here's a screen shot of what problem looks like

Is that the Default Theme for MacOSX?
Add-on themes have been known to "clip" the bottom Prefs / Options windows for a long time now.
Not sure Ed....how do I find out....what do I need to do?
Steve
Preferences > Addons > Themes
can't find this preferences>addons>themes ....can you explain for dummies how to get there on this macbook...???????
Regards, steve
Hit Cmd + Shift + A.
ok, so now what....it said appearance was an up to date add on v23
Sorry, but I'll need baby step help for exactly what you want me to do....or change or add on....delete, change, check, or throw macbook out in tomorrows trash etc....
Regards, Steve
and BTW....yes, as far as I can tell it's the "default theme"
Thanks for shortcut......hit the Cmd + Shift + A keys and it says it's default theme 23.0 by Mozilla....now what??? change it to a custom setting??
ooooops.....sorry for multiple replies....did not see the edit tab to the right!! haha! : )
Ändrad
Edmeister and Waka Flocka....you guys still there??? are you trying to figure what the next steps will be???
Regards, Steve
I had some work to do and was away from my PC.
Sorry, I can't help you any further, I am not familiar with Mac OSX beyond saying that does look to be the default theme after all. I did a Google image search for the default Firefox 23 theme and found this - https://support.cdn.mozilla.net/media/uploads/images/2012-03-23-11-53-38-069da5.png .
OK, thanks....I have no idea what the screen shot you show has to do with the issue??? I'll maybe reinstall the v23 or try to load v19 or?? I guess if Mozilla themselves can't help no one will be able to....but maybe a tweak or fix for this will be found....I'll post again if I find out the problem
Regards, Steve
You can try to set a larger minimum width for this window with code in userChrome.css
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */ #BrowserPreferences { min-width: 50em !important; }
Add code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.
The customization files userChrome.css (interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder.
Hi, thanks, but as I said already, I'm not a computer programer or an expert on macbooks.....what you have showed make absolutely zero sense to me, but thanks for posting it in case I knew what you are talking about...if it means to write some code in a chrome browser I don't use chrome or have it on my Mac.....
I have a Macbook 1,1 made in 2006 and I'm using Snow leopard 10.6.8
What version of Firefox will work best and properly with what I am using?? maybe I should load a lower version of FF??? or do a clean install of v23???? if you read my posts above when I updated FF it went to v22 first then updated itself to v23???? something is wacky with that is it not??
Steve
does a reset help?
Hi, thanks, just tried it, reset FF and same issue, no fix : (
Is this the first time this issue has been reported?
If not maybe the program did not load right and I should re-install it??? I'd probably screw things up even more then....haha
if the pref window had at right lower corner a what I would call "stretch window" feature were I could click and hold down to "stretch" window about 1/4 or an inch it would solve the problem....or of course if the green dot at left top corner expanded the whole window... the prob would be fixed also....why cant' either of these be included or added with an update??? Like said I'm not a programmer but seems for someone who is could be done fairly easy....
Well guys....I've finally figured out how to fix this issue...... if you look at the screen shot I show above.....if I put my trackpad pointer arrow exactly on part of the barely visible sentence for the last setting option "Location Bar" at bottom of the preference window..... it expands the window slightly and shows the complete sentence and tab at right to click for adjusting that settings option...I must do this each time the pref. window is opened and I go to the "Privacy" settings, but it is not a big deal to do now that I know what to do.....
I hope this will be of help the programmers?? or any users that have the same problem.....
Thank you the-edmeister, Waka Floka and cor-el for your quick replies and attempts at helping....it's much appreciated
Regards, Steve
