When I go from MSN (on my Mac), it redirects me to update my browser. I then go to a Mozilla page that tells me that it looks like I'm running an older version. I then follow the instructions to get an update, and am told that my Firefox is currently up to date. I dislike the extra step Microsoft makes me go through, and the conflicting messages from Mozilla.

How do I get out of this?

Save the file to your computer, don't try to run it. Then, Close Firefox (the file is already on your computer) find the file, and install it.

Please go to www.getfirefox.com, and download and install the newest version of Firefox.

Then, read How to reset the default user agent on Firefox if you still see messages that you need to update.

Whenever you get a message / popup that software / files need to be updated,

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PROVIDED LINKS.

While this may be a legitimate message, it could also be Malware or a Virus. Any time you want or need to check for upgrades, go to the web site of the True Owner of the program in question. For example, to check out Firefox, go to Mozilla.org

When I download the new Firefox, I get a message that says it can't be downloaded because Firefox is open! If I close Firefox, I close the opportunity to accept the download. WTF?
