I am not a computer programmer who knows what a Boleen page is. I need a step by step instruction on how to disable the new thumbnail page. I just want it to do what it used to do when I opened up a new page - go to my homepage. I am using OSX 10.9.5

Please assume I do not know anything what so ever and really break it down barney style.

This morning I never knew this feature existed. I got home from work and POW there are all these thumbnails similar to the Safari thumbnails that were very easy to turn off unlike the Firefox ones.

Chosen solution

Type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key to open the about:config page like you open a website by typing the URL in the location bar.

You can start typing browser.newtab.url in the search bar at the top to locate this pref. Open the right-click context menu and select Modify and change the value to your preferred new tab page. The default is the about:newtab page with the nine tiles with thumbnails. If you want a blank page then set the pref to about:blank

Thank you very much for your assistance. Note to anyone else performing this action - you must erase the "about:" when you type in your new destination. For example, you cannot write "about:bing.com". Only "bing.com" can be entered for it to work.
