I have used FF for years and until the recent upgrades had no problems. Since the upgrades FF frequently doesn't respond or crashes. Pages don't load or if they do load they just hang forever. I have gone through the help info available and the suggested resolution did not work. Until the upgrades FF was to me the most stable browser option. I use this for work and don't have time for the issues I keep running into and having to use to two browsers is silly. Help is appreciated.

ok, the few crash reports that were submitted are flash crashes - which will be hard to troubleshoot since the plugin is like a black box. there has been a flash update released by adobe just today, so you might see if this can improve things: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

as for the hanging websites: have you tried other standard advice like clearing cache & cookies and launching firefox in safemode yet to see if the problem continues there as well? Websites look wrong or appear differently than they should

hi edgeeelctric, often such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions. please remove all program rules for firefox from your firewall and let it detect the new version of the browser again.

Thank you but I already did this and it did not solve my problem. As I said I already followed the help given which said the exact thing you suggested. It is not a firewall problem.

in relation to the crashes that were happening - could you provide your latest few submitted crash reports? please enter about:crashes into the location bar, copy the latest few report ids from there starting with bp- & paste them here into a forum reply....

I have posted an example of one of the webpages until recently worked fine. I can log in and if I select another tab of the page it will not load. It works fine in Chrome and says on the webpage it is compatible with FF. Updated pic in my next post.

I will do the Adobe update, though I think I have done that recently. Yes, I have cleared cache and cookies. Haven't tried safemode. This just all seems ridiculous to go through all of this for something that worked fine until the updates started. I do appreciate the help, it's just frustrating.

I went into safemode and when I opened FF I got an option to do a refresh. I had not gotten this message before outside of safemode. I did the refresh and now the problem websites are working okay. I don't know why it worked this way, but am happy it did. I have been having the same problem on my laptop so I will give it a try on that device too. Thank you again for the help! Angela

(working in safemode is what resolved the issue)

Refresh Firefox removes add-ons and reset all settings to factory default. This includes any web site data. That may have been your issue. If this happens again ( Firefox, don't you dare ), try this;

Remove History For One Site Open the History Manager <Control><Shift> H. In the search bar, enter the name of the site. Right click on one of the listings and select Forget About This Site. This should remove all information, including any passwords / settings.

I am using FF ver 39.0 on XP. Starting 7/2/15 FF began to not access certain pages properly which I have used OK for years. All these sites use interactive animation. It started with a popup from Adobe Flash saying I needed an upgrade. I think what I need to do is reinstall a clean version of FF and carefully reload addins one-by-one. I need advice about how to do this.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons. Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac:<Command>)<Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.

If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is detective.
