When I try to type an umlaut ö (ALT+0246 keypad), the ALT+4 on the keypad makes the browser refresh. How do I stop this?
I have been using Duolingo to practice Swedish. This requires typing umlaut characters ä, å, and ö. The first two work ok, but when I try to type an ö (using ALT+0246 keypad), the 4 makes the browser reset and I lose my spot in the lesson. Is there anyway to stop this from happening?
Chosen solution
Make sure that Num Lock is enabled to prevent Firefox from interpreting the key press with the corresponding command (Alt+4 is going back and Alt+6 is forward in the Tab history and Alt+7 would open the home page).

Thanks. This was really bugging me ... I have gotten used to typing my umlauts and accents this way and trying to do it with Duolingo without refreshing the page and losing my progress was really bugging me!
