Hi Wayne,

I use Thunderbird for my business email, so I couldn't wait for a response. I reinstalled the previous version and everything went back to normal. I use Win7 Pro on a 64-bit system on a Toshiba Portege R830 laptop with Intel i7-2620M processor - if that's any help.

Same issue here - running windows 7. I did open in safemode and can see the text properly. So is the next step to activate add-ons until I find the culprit?

It appears that "Thunderbird Conversations 2.8.1" is the issue. When it it disabled the text appears.

Open Thunderbird and go to the menu button in the upper right corner. Click on "Add-ons" which will open the Add-on tab. Then open the "Extensions" tab. Look for "Thunderbird Conversations" add-on and choose to disable it.

I do have the Conversations add-on. So I'll try the solution when I update Thunderbird again.

Thanks for the help.
