Deleting items from search box suggestions doesn't work

Highlighting specific items in the search box's suggestions and pressing delete does not stop the suggestion from appearing next time I type the same search term in the search box.

I don't want to clear all the suggestions or disable search suggestions entirely. I've seen other reports of problems that sound similar to mine. An example: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1047902

I've seen the instructions on how to delete specific items in search bar suggestions, namely, highlight the one you want to delete and press delete, and followed them, and it doesn't work.

hi, deleting entries will only work if they come from your history - not if they are provided as search suggestions by the search engine in question...
