Try this: (1) open a new HTML mail (2) copy/paste a LibreOffice table (or some html text) (3) send to yourself (4) get new mails

You will see only text into your mail.

Well I did what you said and I got a table in a message. So perhaps we can look at something on your system to be causing it to fail for you.

Have you tried safe mode? (hold the shift key while starting Thunderbird.)

Even if Thunderbird is running in Safe Mode, my HTML mails are displayed in text mode. This is a new behavior of rel 38.1.0 (before it was working). Now I try to remove and reinstall it...

Hi Matt, the only action needed has been "Check View menu (alt+V) > message body as is set to original HTML". For some reason, after the setup of the release 38.1.0, the check was "Plain text". Thank you very much!

Well hate to burst your bubble, but in BIRDONFIRE 38.3 under Linux Ubuntu 15.10, the message body to html has to be checked on every restart of the program, the compose in html was initially set by me in all of my many email accounts, but somehow set to text without my intervention. sometimes they stick, sometimes they revert back! I get asked for passwords to accounts randomly, They all check out as correct via webmail, but i keep getting failure to authenticate messages..... when checking for messages the program works otherwise, but the statusbar message gets stuck on one or another account, and will not move! Oh not to mention the sudden application crash, that takes my desktop with it! Made new profile, reinstalled............. No dice THE BIRD IS ABLAZE!

So now what do you think???

Never heard of it. Google search did not locate any such software either.

I think if you want support you might do well to ask a support question instead of post this litany to someone elses.

When you do post your support request, I suggest you provider as a minimum the following. Troubleshooting information To find the Troubleshooting information:

  • Open Help (or click on three-line-icon and select Help)
  • Choose Troubleshooting Information
  • Use the button Copy to clipboard to select all. Do not check box "Include account names"!
  • Paste this in your post.

Please also add the result of these troubleshooting steps to your post

  • Does Thunderbird work in TB Safe mode (see Thunderbird Safe Mode)?
  • Do you use anti-virus and firewall software? What is the version?
  • Who is the email provider?
  • Who is the internet provider?
  • What is the exact error message?
  • What steps did you take right before this happened?
  • What privileges does your user have on the Linux box?
  • What the software installed from the ditributions repository?

Please post back with this information and any other questions you might have.
