I have three address books and I never know where a new entry is going to appear. I would like to select a specific address book when I make a new entry. I would also like to be able to delete an address book.

Chosen solution

Is your directory pane enabled in your address book(s) In the menu at the top of the Address Book window 'View - Layout' - put a check beside 'Directory Pane' Does this help?

Just saw Zenos post. If you select the address book in the left pane, when you select 'New Contact', the address book is pre-filled into the 'ADD to:' box.

If you open the Address Book to add a new Contact, then you can explicitly choose whichever address book it goes into.

If you use the "right-click, add to address book" route, then I see a button which names the target address book, and being a button, lets you change it.

And if you open the Address Book, you can select and delete address books, apart from Personal Address Book and Collected Addresses, which are both hard coded and required.

Where does any of this stop you doing as you want?
