How to "start Thunderbird with a switch" to add a profile?

The instructions say: Profile Manager is not displayed by default. Instead, you must start Thunderbird with a "switch" that makes the Profile Manager appear:

Then enter "thunderbird.exe -p" and click OK.

But do not say how to get to that first point!

Press the Windows key (between Ctrl and Alt) and R, type in thunderbird.exe -p
