Looking to "fish" old bookmarks I'm afraid I've lost...
Hi,
I recently re-installed my Windows and I forgot to save a backup file of my bookmarks. I'm afraid I lost them, but I think I might just have a chance of recovering them - I didn't format my computer, as I said, I just re-installed Windows, which means I have a folder called Windows.old that contains all files (or most?) from my "previous computer".
Is there a way of "fishing" my old bookmarks? Is there a file somewhere with my old bookmarks?
Help me and I will be forever grateful! I have thousands of bookmarks that I very much need and want...
Thank you very much, Amit.

Do you have an "C:\Windows.old" folder? If you have a "C:\Windows.old" folder with personal data from a previously installed Windows version then you can recover personal data from a previously used profile in this backup.
- C:\Windows.old\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
You can copy files like these to the current Firefox profile folder to recover specific data.
- bookmarks and history: places.sqlite
- bookmark backups: JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder
- SQLite files like cookies.sqlite (cookies) and formhistory.sqlite (saved form data)
- logins.json and key3.db (decryption key) for Passwords saved in the Password Manager
- cert8.db and possibly cert_override.txt for (intermediate) certificates stored in the Certificate Manager
- persdict.dat for words you added to the spelling checker dictionary
- permissions.sqlite for Permissions and possibly content-prefs.sqlite for other Site Preferences
- sessionstore.js for open tabs and pinned tabs and tab groups
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory:
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
