I am having problems viewing video on nbc.com I want to be able to watch my shows it says the video is playing but it is all black and wont show any feed of any video. I am not understanding why I can't watch videos on nbc,com but yet I can watch things on youtube and every other site. I went to google chrome and it seems to be playing on there but it will not play on mozilla. any assistance would be awesome--i like the mozilla browser and would like to continue using it--how come nbc wont work? I know that the flash player is integrated through windows 10 and have tried updated my plugins for shockwave flash and the flash player in general. Video says it is playing however no graphic or sound or anything what so ever when I go to that site.

Hmm, I think the fact that the pause button is grayed out and the time shows 0 means that the video isn't actually loading. Mine plays two ads before starting the actual program. Do you get the ads? If not, do you use any add-ons that could be blocking them? Normally, those would be extensions, which you can check on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right. Anything possibly interfering here? (Note: all extensions are optional, so if you see anything that you didn't install or which doesn't seem useful for day-to-day browsing, you could disable it.)

I am just going to go over to google chrome for now--until i can figure it out--i never had any problems with it till today== gave myself a headache just trying to figure things out--i like mozilla but i just don't understand whats going on-- i checked into the things that you mentioned above and there should be nothing wrong with it. i tried reinstalling and doing all that fun stuff but it still didn't work maybe mozilla just doesn't play videos anymore to my knowledge--and right now i just need something simple to use. maybe i will figure it out some day but today isn't the day thanks for responding--i used to be able to fix things like this but technology has grown so crazy and i can't keep up with everything

I have the same problem with another broadcaster website. I didn't have the problem until all the fuss about Firefox and Flash. Now I still have the problem, even though Firefox and Flash are both up to date, and I don't have any extensions. When I click on the video link, the website's video player page is shown but is completely blank. Sometimes, the black window will open, where the video would be shown but it just remains black. I have always had Win7 64 bit.

Are there any more suggestions? Since other browsers work well and since other users don't seem to have this problem, I thought there must be something simple which I need to do.

Hi dmwalker55, if you click the plugin notification icon toward the left end of the address bar (looks like a small, dark gray Lego block), can you confirm that the site is allowed to use Flash?

Thanks for the fast reply. There isn't a plugin notification icon but I noticed another icon for blocking tracking so I disabled it and now the videos are working.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Oh yes, I hadn't thought to ask about whether you were using a private window. More info on that: What happened to Tracking Protection?.

This would be a good time to learn about private windows and and the consequences of tracking protections.

Thanks again.
