Some add-ons are signed, but only "preliminary reviewed".

Open the add-ons manager tab and type the full name of a "preliminary reviewed" add-on - for example "dorando keyconfig". It will not show in the search results (first uploaded image). There is no indication that some add-ons are missing from search results, or any button to show missing add ons. I can't find any option (even about:config) to change this behaviour.

If the search term is less specific, for example keyconfig' , and there is more than one page of results, then the desired add-on is still missing. However there is a link at the bottom of the page "see all NNN results" (second uploaded image). Click this link, and the desired add-on is shown (third uploaded image). Adds-on that are "preliminary reviewed" are also shown correctly from a search in https://addons.mozilla.org/ (fourth uploaded image).

Proposed correct behaviour: The add-ons manager tab should show "preliminary reviewed" add-ons so that these can be installed and to give consistency with other search results. If desired they can be marked with a 'badge' similar to the existing 'requires restart'.

Bug applies to both Firefox and Thunderbird.

hi, i think this the intended behaviour - the addons manager will only show fully reviewed extensions to users as search results...

Hi Philipp Thanks for a quick reply. I understand a desire to guide users who are casually browsing for add-ons towards those that are fully reviewed. However the current scenario is simply baffling.

  1. If users should be guided away from "preliminary reviewed" add-ons for their safety, then this ought to be applied always.
  2. If a user clicks "show more results" they expect to see the same search but with more results. It is confusing for the search criteria to magically change with no explanation.
  3. If a user wants to install a specific add-on, and types the full name into the search result, it is baffling to return no results with no explanation.

I suggest

  • The addons manager and "show more results" should be consistent.
  • "Preliminary reviewed" add-ons should receive a drop in search priority, and should have a clear badge in results listings (without having to click through to the individual page). However where there is a strong search match for an add-on that is "preliminary reviewed" it should be shown.
