I want to be able to print the clutter-free content from Firefox reader mode. I am on Firefox version 49.0. Can someone tell me how do i do this?

Best, Animesh.

You can print from reader view just like printing any other website. Simply click the print button or press Ctrl + P.

Alternatively, you can reduce the clutter on printed pages by using a tool like the CleanPrint Bookmarklet.

thanks for the message, Wesley. I tried this earlier and it works on a simple webpage. But this page [link] is what I am trying to print.

The output of printing is not as clean as what is shown in Reader mode. Thats why I got confused if it's even printing the reader mode content.

Please let me know if you can find a way to print the exact same content of reader mode on this type of page.

I am unable to replicate your issue on my end. The only thing that is added to the link that you provided when printing is the page header and footer.

In order to better assist you with your issue please provide us with a screenshot. If you need help to create a screenshot, please see How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box. This will help us to visualize the problem.

Thanks.

Note: If you are not able to take a screenshot or would rather supply a photo of the paper copy, you are able to upload photos from your camera/phone and upload it to the forum as well.

I am uploading 3 screenshots (in the following order).

1. Print result in reader view 2. Reader view in firefox 3. Plain view of the page in firefox.

Yes, so that is the result that I get when I print from the regular viewing mode. For some reason, your Firefox is not printing from reader mode and is changing back to regular mode for printing.

Can you please follow the steps in the Fix printing problems in Firefox Mozilla support article to reset all of your Firefox printer settings?

Please let us know if resetting the printer settings repairs the issue.

As I suspected, it doesn't fix the issue. Could it be a bug in reader mode? Note that not all the page come cluttered in reader mode for me. I have tried to print reader view output on couple of other simple pages and on those pages, it prints as expected. This makes me believe that reader mode has some bug where it's not handling some of the objects on this page correctly.

I guess I won't like to follow up on this issue further as it is taking more time than I was expecting. I'll live with what I print.

Thanks a lot for your help, Wesley. Appreciate your time to answer my questions.

Sorry that we weren't able to solve your problem.

If you believe that this is a bug, please feel free to file a bug report on Bugzilla so that the developers can take a look into the issue.

If you are interested in troubleshooting this issue further, please try running Firefox in Safe Mode and see if the issue goes away while in Safe Mode. This mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables add-ons, hardware acceleration and reverts certain Firefox settings.

Hi animesh_pathak

I am able to print that page in Firefox 49, Windows 10 just like Wesley! Check out the PDF

It could be a bug in Firefox (feel free to file a bug if it doesn't print in both Windows 10 safe mode and Firefox safe mode) but my guess is that it's more likely to be a bug in your Windows 10 OS or your printer or your PDF driver since it works for Wesley and I.

Cheers!
