Firefox keeps crashing at startup. For a moment I was able to have safemode open where I was selecting to restore tabs which I believed were not related to any issue (old tabs I've had pinned for months). It would then crash even at that point. After a few attempts going that route, crashing occurred immediately even when trying safe mode.

Hi

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Hello Seburo,

Thank you for your reply.

The issue that I am experiencing is that Firefox crashes immediately, before any of its windows even load. This prevents me from following the steps you listed.

I can, however, post the file names from the "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted" directory. They are as follows: bp-c8acb3ad-ecf8-41d5-9bab-77c182161130 bp-6d401a5c-ffa2-4674-a85c-442a62161130 bp-8ac377a8-bd31-4b64-a703-55ca82161130 bp-4c741565-903a-4ec3-969f-e53432161130 bp-c434ae03-b2ff-4e7d-b6ba-33dda2161130 bp-29e49dc5-0424-4b76-8b59-067942161130

Hi, thanks for the crash reports, this might be caused by Websense software. Perhaps you could if possible try updating or disabling it.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!

Hello Scribe,

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, Websense is a network security tool that I am required to use. It is unlikely that I will be able to disable it. Firefox was running fine with it for a few months, what could have happened recently that caused the two to disagree?

Hello philipp,

The first option in the link you provided specifies a different Websense product than what is installed on my machine. Its installation and maintenance is handled by AD group policy, so I am unable to check for updates.

The latter option does get an instance of Firefox up and running for me. I'm not sure the ESR is desirable, due to it being version 45.5.1. I'd like to be up to date for web development purposes. I will attempt to migrate my old profiles for the sake of my pinned tabs, and hence my productivity. I must thank you for that, at the least.

I'd like to leave this thread open for the time being to see if there is a way to get the latest version of Firefox.

Thank you all for your help.
