Why does Firefox not open any website as it states that it is not secure?

This is what I get when I open www.mozilla.org using Firefox, 'Your connection is not secure'. The owner of www.mozilla.org has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website. In my opinion, Firefox is NOT working at all.

The issuer of the certificate is your Bitdefender software.

  • Issuer C = US,O = Bitdefender,OU = IDS,CN = Bitdefender Personal CA.Net-Defender

You can check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.

You can click the "Advanced" button to expand this section to see extra details. If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER) then click the blue error message to expand this section and to show the certificate chain. You can paste the full base64 encoded certificate chain in a reply. Then we can check the issuer of the certificate.

This tells me that Mozilla website is NOT secure, when in fact it is.

I have removed FF56 and installed FF57, and when I open FF57 I immediately see the error message below and I can't open any website. If I open FF 57, I will see the following message: Your connection is not secured

The owner of www.mozilla.org has not configured his or her website correctly. To protect your data from theft, Firefox has not connected to this website.

More info....

Errors like these report to help Mozilla recognize and block malicious websites.

I reinstalled FF, re-started the Mac, tried to install the previous version with Timemachine. Nothing works.

Hi smdevries, can you generate that same error page on other HTTPS sites, such as:

On any of those sites, please click the "Advanced" button. This should display more detailed information which will help point toward the source of the problem. The ERROR_CODE users encounter most often is covered by this article:
