I don't know if ever mozilla going to change default firefox's bookmark folder to Bookmarks Menu but meanwhile you can use this extension to change default bookmark folder and some other features.

The extension that sabaraha suggests, would give you just what you were used to (and more) - why don't you just give it a try  ? Might put the smile right back on your face  !

Changes : some hate them - others love them .....

However, maybe you'd like to submit feedback here :

The fact that there is an extension to fix it says it all lol, ‘leave things alone’ we use Firefox for a reason , don’t fix things that don’t need fixed lol, why would anyone want a other bookmarks as default lol , errmm!!

Contributors on this support forum are (for the main part) volunteers, users just like you, trying to help other users in their spare time. We're neither Mozilla employees nor developers - hence I suggested you'd submit feedback on the pages I gave you links to.

I appreciate your frustration though, but (call me stubborn) : would you give that extension a try  ? Just might put a smile on your face, once you've got things working again the way they used to ......
