To get rid of adware I cleared everything from Firefox. it didn't help. So I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. I got rid of adware, but then I remembered that while I was cleaning firefox before uninstalling, I lost all my logins. not my Firefox sync account is logged in, but when I try to sync it doesn't show anything. I believe it got deleted from Firefox account as well. However, I have the same account on android firefox which has all the saved login details.

Now my question is if I try to sync my android firefox, will login details go back to account and then I can retrieve same on the desktop by syncing, or will the login details get deleted from Android firefox as well?

I have more than more login details for more than 200 websites, most of them are different to each other so I cant take the slightest risk of losing them. so please guide on this only if you are sure. Also is there a way I can export login details from android firefox which then I can use on the desktop. (Direct / Indirect - any way possible ?)

Till I get any solution here I am blocking internet for Android Firefox, to ensure that it doesn't start syncing, as I am afraid the login data may get deleted from there as well after sync.

Please Help...

Chosen solution

Hi cor-el, Thanks for responding. sorry for the late response to your reply.

I solved the problem. I installed Firefox Nightly and then tried to sync over there. And it worked, I got all my saved login credentials back on it. I guess I will just remove normal firefox and continue to use Firefox Nightly. They are mostly the same.

Did you try an undelete utility to see if you could recover the logins.json and key4.db files?

Note that Nightly updates twice each day, so that is much further than 'mostly' would cover for me. Nightly is also unstable and can give issues at any time. Copying the password files logins.json and key4.db from Nightly to another profile shouldn't be a problem. Nightly needs its own profile and it isn't safe to reuse a profile used by Nightly with another Firefox version.
