when I hit my internet explorer tab an add appears trying to get me to download Firefox with no way to exit but to download, but I already have the app.

of it and give me back control of explorer. If I have to I'll get rid of Firefox. Don't force adds on me.

Two possibilities.

1) Check your homepage setting.

2) You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
